Can one become straight edge?

I grew up with a lot of straight edge friends, I unfortunately chose a different lifestyle that ruined my life. I was addicted to heroin for years and spent many years behind bars due to my addiction. I currently have 5 years clean without any chemicals. Meaning, no drugs, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine etc... I am also married so the sea thing isn't in the cards. I have always respected the sxe lifestyle. I was always envious of my bros that could live it. I was wondering if someone with my previous circumstances would be considered sxe. I'm saying I'm running out and tatting xxx on me or anything, I was just wondering. Many people have different views on this so what's yours? Lemme know!

hey there, congrats on being clean for 5 years, that's a great achievement.

i dont think any previous history should matter if you decide to go straight edge. you can do lots of poor choices, but ultimately, the one that matters the most is the one you make to change your life for the better.
