since you're proclaiming a love of afi, I'd have to say right now you're probably suspect.

Yeah I quit drinking on my 17th birthday which was January 7th, 2004.. not too long ago.

I was just sick of watching all my friends ruin their lives, getting kicked out of school and some of them getting kicked out of their house.

I looked at sXe as a way to save myself from being like them. I don't want to do that to my body..

do you feel like the reason you don't do those things are because of straight edge?

because a lot of people have gotten a partial idea of what straight edge is from AFI. and a lot of times that idea is incorrect. I'm not saying you're not, I'm just saying that it takes more interaction with someone than just a yes no question.

it's part of it. but it's also an entire subculture centered around it. Have you heard alot of straight edge hardcore?

top of this section is a thread called master list. that should give you some stuff to go from.

you might also want to look up the history of straight edge. where it came from and what calling yourself it means. you might agree, you might not.
http://www.truetilldeath.com has a decent history section. but it's mostly a history of bands and not necessarily a history of the movement.

When I decided to quit drinking I never really knew what straight edge was.. Heard of it but never understood it. My friend asked me if I was straight edge when I told him I quit drinking. I told him I did not really know what it was then he explained it..

I thought about it and decided, hey why not?

That would be their "complete dicography"
