if you think you're going to drink at some point in your life, then why not do it now?

Because right now, I believe that drinking would be a terrible thing. I'm underage, and I believe it would screw up my life. Obviously, I'm going to have to drink alchohol. Hereditarily, I'm Jewish, so my parents try to make me drink wine. I don't understand why you don't understand me, dude. I simply don't believe it right now. I don't have a reason to drink. I think it's stupid.

if you think it's stupid now, what's going to change about alcohol and everything around it that would make you change your mind in the future then?

Well its fine if you find it hard to express what you actually mean but your initial reaction pinpointed that inability on me which isn't a good start. I mean i can only go on the things you say not the things you think. It still boggles my mind that you can on one hand think that you are going to break edge with drink but on the other hand catagorically state that you will never break edge on drink or drugs. I don't think this forum holds any threat for you other than the fact people will say what they think. And peoplle can really credit you for accepting your flaws if you don't accept them, that said people aren't out to discredit you but when you say things you should make sure you don't discredit yourself.

I don't know, it's not really this forum as much, but I've noticed in the kids new to the scene, edge has become, in all honesty, a platform to show yourself from. They have arguments about who's more edge, and what not. Here, I appreciate that people are pretty accepting. I do get defensive pretty easily, I guess that's why I felt attacked. Anywhom...Here's what I can say right now. You guys did really change my mind, and see the holes and spots in my theories and beliefs. I guess, right now, I know I can't stay 100% edge forever. I will end up drinking (but nothing worse) and it would probably only be for medicinal purposes (I stated in a post before about how drinking is good for the heart.) I accept my flaws, and thanks for helping me see the truth.

See...you guys are getting it wrong. I'm saying if I need be, I will do it. Medicinal. I'm not going to drink casually. I don't want to impair myself for something like that. Look. I don't plan to break edge. But I know that if neccessary, I might.

Tests have been done, because it thins the blood, i think. Go to the american heart association, they may have something about it there.

yeah but there's not medical reason to do it and drinking leads to other medical problems.

it's also not the alcohol that has the affect and there are also tests that show chocolate has a similar effect.

or eat red grapes. there's just no reason, even for heart disease treatment to drink alcohol. especially since alcohol is a by product of something else, it stands to reason that whatever benefit you get from the drink you'd also get from the source which wouldn't be alcoholic

mmm. But one thing. Don't you think that not eating grapes is a fruitless effort (no pun intended :-) )? I mean, that's like not eating chocolate because it's made from the cocoa bean, which was also used to make cocaine.

its not the same plant the chocolate is made from "cacao" or cocoa... whatever you call it there wich is a bean

cocaine is made from the leaf of a plant (as far as i know) called "COCA"

Who said anything about not eating grapes because they can make wine?

my name is matt and im from sweden ive been into hc for about 10 years but just recently started thinkin about sxe and i decided that i needed a change in my life, im an ex biker who made a couple of wrong turns in life with booze and drugs but i am now clean.
the scene here in the south of sweden is pretty much non existent these days, unlike a couple of years ago when there were shows almost every weekend and other people into hc..

tja matt, i´m also from sweden, but from somewhat more to the north i guess (vänersborg, vid vänern). the scene here isn´t that great either, but i´m guessing that it´s better up here than down there. but you´ll have to agree that it would be nice to live near to linköping.
and i´m also clean for a year now, eventhough i wasn´t ever into booze and/or drugs even as much as a typical "gymnasiekille".

tjena!!!
i live in hässleholm which is a small town in the north of skåne so linköping isnt that far away for me but it would be nice to have some sxe friends down here aswell...
is there any bands that tour sweden anymore? it has been awhile since i saw posters for sick of it all and such bands before there was almost a show every week down here....
and we had a scene here refused played here but the greatest show here must have been when flag of democracy played here but the lack of interest from people made organizers here switch from hc to the likes of kent and bob hund...
by the way have you had a ´zine a couple of years back? i bought one that was from vänersborg after a shelter show in lund and that was very informational...

well, maybe we should take this in the part of the forum that is dedicated to non-english speaking so we can use swedish, but here is my answer anyway.
i have some cousins and my grandparents live in/near hässleholm, so i know were it is. but i think that linköping is pretty far away anyway, it´s almost the same distance from here to.
one site that i sometimes use to find out new shows is monumenthq.com (http://www.monumenthq.com), where you sometimes can find shows under shows, and otherwise order stuff from. i find almost all shows i go to searching the web, and sometimes bands like smackdown and traktor (great bands both of them) play here, in the local musicplace.
vänersborg used to be pretty big in hardcore, we had a festival called "vänerrocken" suring the ´90s, where many hadrcore/punk bands played, but nowdays it´s pretty much nonexistant.
in april there will be "close-up festivalen" in stockholm, where a few hc-bands will play, that´s something i would like to see but i´ll probably not be abel to since i don´t even have a driverslicense. but that´s just one advice if you didn´t know it, eventhough it´s very much metal-bands also.
