ok, so i was talking to someone today, and i found that apparently because i prefer the musical genius of n'sync over the musings of gorilla biscuits, i am not edge. why not may i ask. isn't the essence of being edge keepng clean? i dont drink dont smoke dont inject dont swallow and very rarely do i snort. i also shower every day, sometimes twice, if that helps. my point is that shouldn't i be allowed to take part in this trend, i swear havent done anything in the last 18 minutes....and i dont forsee that coming to a close, i've doodled x's everywhere.

well wait, in a non 'troll' manner I have a similar real question... if I follow the similar lifestyle and such of a straight edge person, but I like metal, does that not make me edge?

No then you are edge. Straightedge is relevent to hardcore, without hardcore you don't have straightedge thats the point. To be connected to straightedge you need to be connected to hardcore however no one is saying you must listen to just hardcore. The fact that you listen to all types of music including hardcore fills the necessary connection to hardcore.

that's only part of it. there are lots of groups/lifestyles/cultures/subcultures that all consider sobriety important. the music and the cultural elements are what makes straight edge unique.
