could a band be concidered an Edge band if their messages follow the edge ideals, but their members do not in their personal lives?

nope. I don't understand how a band can have "edge ideals" and not be edge though?

i was just listening to my good ol' Reagan Youth cd and i started thinking about their anti drug mesasges (Degenerated especially) and then i thought about their singer and how he dried up on smack. it just made me think that maybe there could be a band out there that sings to promote the edge, but don't live it.

it's a kind of thin concept i guess, but it seemed interesting.

there are bands who drink but will have a song against drug use. There are bands like crucial youth that are a joke band that aren't edge and are "promoting" edge.

I gotta agree with Dusty. It doesn't make much sence at all to be in a band that sings about supporting a life style that the members don't support. Why would you be so passionate about some thing you yourself don't believe or live.

well, not to sound snide/sarcastic/rude/etc, if i have my story straight, the singer for Regan Youth was addicted to smack, so he would know really well what he was talking about if he was singing anti drug songs. addiction is a painfully powerful force, not one to be over come easily. So, hypothetically[sp?] he could be making anti-drug songs while on drugs.

that's probaly taking it a little far from Reagan Youth, they were mainly political, but a few songs were anti drug and that was what got me onto the thought.

But he didn't support a drug free lifestyle. So just because a band sang a few drug free songs that wouldn't qualify them as a edge band. Why sing songs about being drug free if you have no intention of being a drug free person.
