everyones reasons are different. I don't because I think there's no point.

I have a couple of reasons. The major reason I don't drink is because I do not see the point. Why would I pick up a beer and drink it just because there is alcohol in it, when i would much rather pick up a bottle of orange juice. Also, I see the stupid things people do when they are drunk and I don't want to look like that.

My other small reason is because alcoholism runs in my family so even if I did drink, I would have to be careful.

I just find the whole recreational drug thing too passive. I'd rather have fun because I'm having fun and not mask my feelings with drugs and booze.

Also growing up drinking culture was much much more prominent in the UK and very much so where I grew up, I found all the people ambling around the streets at pub or club closing like glass eyed zombies to be really creepy, and sad. I remember one night in particular, I was at a late night food place at about 2.30am and the line for the counter was like a scene from Night of the Living Dead, I really didn't want to be one of those people.

im a bit of a health freak i drink things that have things i want to consume like vitimine calcium and the same with food,
drink dont do anything good for me i can go out and still have good time.
and smoking is pointless period y would anyone wanna smell like an old man. its not atractive.

I realised I could have a BETTER time when out at gigs at parties out with friends whatever without alchohol. Drinking is needless and it can turn the best of people into complete dickheads so there is no need for it at all.

Smoking, need I even start. Smoking makes you: lose alot of money, makes you smell, is terrible for your health. There isn't even one slight positive thing about smoking at all. It even looks disgusting.

I don't drink because it's stupid also because it screws up my balance and if you read my post on serious thoughts you'd know why.

hi. i know im new, but i'd like to say that on this point, i took on 'edge because i have grown up with near-alcoholic parents and family and i've seen what that shit can do to you. also, i hate the feeling of losing control of myself around potential strangers.

if ever i have a moment of near-weakness, i just think of what its done to my family-and my edge is stronger than ever.

I'm straight edge because I can't really understand why anyone would want to take drugs, alcohol, smoke, etc. When I'm with my friends I'm always the one stopping the arguments and stopping the stuff they would regret in the morning, because I'm the one that's sober. Seeing some of the stupid stuff that they've done, I really don't understand why anyone would want to let themselves do that. Also all the health risk of that stuff, I like being healthy and I wouldn't want to be consiously destroying my body like that. The only person I've slept with is my boyfriend, who I have been with for three years, so I wouldn't really know what sleeping around is like, only that I wouldn't want to have sex without the emotional content really.

The main reason that I turned straight edge is that a friend of mine almost drowned when he was trippin.
I don't really know what stuff he used,
But his eyes turned all white, and he got really scared,
And he kinda lost his mind.
I was also living in a place where it's easyer to get harddrugs then to get a sandwitch,
And I was already in the hardcore scene, so it was like the best choice for me.

we dont see why you take drugs and drink and and you dont see why we dont.
we can all have fun and get through life just some people have diffrent methods negative or positive
