I recently became straight edge and was talking to a friend about it and somehow she got it into her head that being straight edge is like being a virgin and that once you've done drugs or alcohol then you can't become straight edge. I think she's got it wrong but I guess I could be mistaken.

yeah, your friend is wrong. a very small percentage of people who are edge have never done anything.
