alright i have another question but this time not as serious. obviously you listen to hardcore, but you have to hear other kinds of music. either on the radio or with a friend or whatever, what do you like and are you able to buy mainstream albums?

sure...

i actually have a thread in 'other' asking people what non-hardcore music they listen to. there is no tenet of straightedge that says:

thou shalt not listen to the radio.
unless it's celine deion

here's the deal. straighedge is a hardcore movement. it is hard for us to understand why people want to get into straightedge without being into hardcore. hardcore music is so important to the scene.

it seems like there is a push to divorce straightedge and hardcore music...what you are witnessing is a responce to that from people who don't want the scene to become a watered down version of itself.

it's not about only listening to hardcore. it's about realizing the basis and the history of straightedge... which i, for one, want to continue to see operate within the realm of the hardcore scene.

people don't get "pissed off at new comers", some people are dicks, some people aint, I'd just turn up and see how it goes, I think you'd be surprised how friendly some people can be.

And you have to like Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies, it's a cover band, whats not to like?

I used to end my set at Edwards No 8 with their version of country roads some nights, it was a good way to end an evening.

i got some songs by strife, raised fist, and i have stuff that my brother in-law likes, like tension, kicked in the balls, and i forgot who else. now i know glassjaw isnt hardcore, anymore but in their video on the drums they have 3 x's, does that mean their straightedge.

So it seems like you are not really into the music. Maybe I missed something but did you come on here because you were thinking of becoming straight edge? If so, why do you want to become straight edge and have you gotten a sense of what hardcore and/ or straight edge is from shows or the music? ONE.

sublime is my favorite group ever. its just ironic that he died from a drug overdose. it sucks to think that he never got to see the real success of his band.
