View Full Version : YOT vs Danzig: Graffiti wars!
Just dig this gem up!
When Youth of Today was recording "We're Not In This Alone" at Chung King studios during the daytime, Danzig was recording their first record in the same room at night. The walls of the control room were freshly painted, so naturally we wrote tons of sXe graffiti all over them. Much to our surprise, the next day we came in to see that Glenn Danzig and Rick Rubin had defaced our posi-core drawings with various pentagrams and goat's heads. This was the start of a graffitti war of light vs. darkness between the two bands that lasted the whole session. We would cover their dripping-blood skull drawings with things like "Wake up and live, warlocks!" and they would retaliate with "Your mother's in here with us, Cappo" and so on. On one of the last days of mixing, Sammy and I were leaving the studio just as Glenn was walking in. As he got into the elevator, I turned, raised my fist in the air and shouted "Straight Edge!" Glenn flashed us an evil grin, made the sign of the devil horns with his fingers, and calmly said "Satan" as the elevator doors closed.

yeah, it's a fun read. even though i totally loath Danzig (expect his work in Misfits) lately i found these Danzig related stuff.
WNITA sounds pretty solid to me though, which is kind of interesting in itself, because they said the reason teh judge Chung king sounds so bad was that Run DMC (??? or was it the Beastie Boys? Can't remember) was working on their album at the same time, so they all got the good equipment.

Yeah, that's right haha, I read that somewhere too, it was either Run DMC or the Beastie Boys, can't remember.

haha yeah. there's a video on youtube where he shows his books, which is pure comedy to. i think a search with danzig+books should bring it up on the site, too bad it's blocked here.
