I Would Just Like To Ask That...
In The UK What Is There In The Yorkshire Area
There Are Hardcore Bands, Yeah..
But The Amount Of Straight Edge Is Tiny
The Best I Do Is Get To Hardcore Shows
But Those Are Nothing Like The Hardcore That Was Around
So Me Being 15, Hardcore Has Changed, Its All Bout
Grindcore And Screamo And 2Step

The term hardcore is thrown around and used to describe so much styles of music these days. It's done so by alot more people these days aswell so this is probably why you seem to think that screamo and 2step are what hardcore is these days when infact it's not. UK bands that seem to have "hardcore" used to describe them are the likes of Enter Shikari, Bring Me The Horizon, Your Demise. Not hardcore bands at all but some people still choose to use hardcore to describe them.
And guys, the kid is 15 years old, maybe you 2 were clued up and moshing to your Bad Brains records when you were 15 but the guys asking a question and looking for some advice on it, so "oh dear" isn't helping anybody is it?

thats what i want
and when youre the only straight edge guy in your town of your age
and i have to deal with the rubbish i get from people when i tell them im striaght edge
i think i need a bit more respect than "oh dear"
im fucking inot all judge and youth of today and all the bands listed on various "straight edge" music lists, but do they play live in NORTH YORKSHIRE UK!!
so i try my best to get into any music that is branded hardcore in anyway
just cos i go to a diff hardcore show doesnt mean you look down at me

That doesn't mean that they don't have a concept of what hardcore is.

Look, all i wanted to know really was...
What harcore bands are around in the yorkshire area, that will be playing live, lets say in leeds, or york
bacause the only music that is labelled hardcore around here is 2step and grindcore
yes i listen to it, but i know about all the hardcore bands that were around and i listen to them
i was only asking, has it changed, or will the straight edge genre of hardcore always stay the same, which i have gethered it will
now can anyone tell me of any UK bands that i could get into and possibly see?

And I couldn't agree with you more either. I was merely pointing out that distance doesn't mean lack of knowledge.

You're twisting my words.
I didn't say everyone was unfriendly. I just talked about this oh dear posts and her reaction.
You're just changing the subject.
And you just don't want to admit that I was right.

no, your original point was that people were unfriendly as a group and that it wasn't addressed. I'm not changing the subject at all. Your perception is wrong and for some reason you want to try and find examples where people were unfriendly, but you want to pretend that those exist in a vacuum where they weren't addressed. This thread is actually a perfect example that counters your original post about how people here are unfriendly.

There have been many waves of hardcore, and each one is a little different.
What passes for hardcore these days doesn't resemble anything that was around in the '80's.
And I bet I can tell you exactly why these grindcore and screamo bands call themselves hardcore-
It's all because of a little thing called a breakdown.

it probably has more to do with the friends of the people involved in those bands and how they got shows than any kind of musical forumal because seriously. screamo is about as related to hardcore musically as it is to the blues, the only thing it has is common is lineage.

Hahaha
The thought of a screamo band playing at a blues festival makes me smile.

Of course, my point was that some people are unfriendly to different users, and in this thread I give a example of 2 persons being unfriendly to one user. That's an example to back my "original point".
For some reason? The reason is I was told to find examples.
Wasn't it you?

Hm of course, look here: http://sxe.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5090
I'd really like to see specific examples where someone has asked a legitimate question about straight edge and got an unfriendly response.
Yeah, here it is.

ok. maybe it's a language thing, but #1, this isn't about straight edge, #2, if you think people posting "oh dear" is unfriendly, I have to wonder how your normal interactions with people are. Unhelpful, yes, unfriendly no. Now, were those posts addressed? If your point is that people should be friendlier on the site, then wouldn't it make sense to focus on what people said to address that, than the other? I'm honestly at the point where I'm not even sure what your point is now.

this isn't about straight edge
I know. But If you but that on a straight edge page, there has to be a connection, or it just doesn't make sense.

It doesn't matter if oh dear is unfriendly, but that girl felt offended and got angry.

Okay, I'll try to rephrase.
The tone here is unfriendly.

people talk about all kinds of things here that aren't about straight edge. In your world no one would ever argue, but it's something that you already didn't abide by yourself.
It doesn't matter if oh dear is unfriendly, but that girl felt offended and got angry.
the person, I don't know if they're male or female, also dealt with it and addressed it. You seem to be more bothered by it than you apparently were.
Okay, I'll try to rephrase.

if it is, then you're certainly adding to it. I simply don't agree. I think you should go spend some time looking at other message boards, specifically ones about straight edge and see how people are treated for asking questions. Most responses will be mocking. That's something that simply doesn't and has never happened here.
