View Full Version : Somebody explain please
Why would a label reissue a demotape on vinyl??? I'm talking about the Breakthrough demo. I own it, it's great, but I don't see any purpose to own it on vinyl. Is the goal to make it available for a lot of people? It's only a limited edition of 500. Is it a way to make it a collectible? Or is it only the coolness factor? I'd rather have they record new songs.

it is probably to give people a chance to get it, if they weren't able to get the actually demotape before. and if it is limited to 500, then they probably aren't expecting to sell a ton of them, just for those who want it, who weren't able to get it before, or only buy vinyls.

yeah, but if the idea was to give people a chance to get it, 500 copies is nothing. it will get sold out in two weeks dude. so if it was about that, it would be a cd release about 2000 pieces easy.
I'm in no way dissing Aram, and his policy with his label, he puts out great bands, I just found this whole demo to limited vinyl odd.

it's all about cash and creating a collectors market.

also, vinyl sounds better. but that's not the reason, it's just a bonus.

both suck, if vinyl has a richer sound to you its probably because you like how your record player sound, but it cant really sound better because it has a needle scratching the vinyl. that gives a buzz. plus vinyls and cassettes are easier to distort, cassettes because the tape gets thinner and thinner everytime you use it and then breaks. same with vinyl, the needle scratchs the surface and eventually makes it loose quality, and you know, the temperature deal and bending them also distorts 'em. i think vinyls have more like a collector feeling than real quality.

That's why I absolutely love digital music file formats.
