I was thinking about something recently. Did Earth Crisis use animal friendly drum skins? Were they available then? This would mean they had to take all of their drum gear to every show, so they didn't play on drum skins from other bands' drummers.

that's kind of interesting, because the only drumskins I saw were made of hide, instead teh one Charlie Benante gave a friend of mine. that was plastic, but those kinds are extremely expensive as far as i know, and haven't been around since a few years. hence my inquiry.

When I was a drummer, I used plastic drumheads. I might have used leather once, but that was for my snare drum, so it doesn't really count if its one drum.

Plastic ones start super cheap. Budget kits always have plastic heads because of the cheapness, you can get some really expensive ones too but thats because they were like really clever plastic. I've never seen hide on a drum kit although a friend of mine has some bongos with hide!!

that explains it. our drummer has only had hide drumheads. hmm. I'll have to ask him about it.
