Greetings
I've a question that is haunting my mind for a while.
A couple of weeks ago I was pretty ill, I have the medicine Echinaforce (http://labsinsider.wordpress.com/2007/01/17/dr-alfred-vogel-the-healing-power-of-nature/) (not much information on the site, but you should google the name and maybe translate some wiki pages).
And I refused to take it because there's 65% alcohol in it (you only need 20 drops of it a time).
My health wasn't getting better so I decided to use it.
It helped, but I felt guilty for taking it.
Felt like I had broken the edge.
What do you think?

sxe is about recreational drug use. I wouldn't use this, just to avoid catching a cold, and i'm sure this can be substituted with something, but have it in mind, that if you need to get a surgery, or have serious illness, you'd need to take some pills or medicine of some sort, that might be considered mind altering substance. would you die instead of taking those?

i think it´s absolutely OK. As Dini said, edge´s not about avoiding rare use of minimum amount of alcohol for medical purpouse, but about evade drinking alcohol for joy.

Hi DecemberTree,
No worries-you didn't break edge, especially on such a natural product.
According to the site you linked this supplement to, Echinaforce was developed by a Alfred Vogel, a Swedish herbalist. I am actually familiar with Vogel's work as a botanist and herbalist from my time working as a herbalist. In no way was this product intended to make you drunk or even sleepy; many herb tinctures need to be distilled with alcohol to derive the necessary medicinal elements. However, you can buy alcohol-free tinctures and even veg-friendly capsules at any local health food store or co-op. *Just be sure to buy one of those two forms rather than a tablet, which is harder for your body to break down.
Best,
Carla

Thanks a lot for the great reply's!
Echinaforce says on the package you can use 2 to 5 times a day 10-20 drops.
I'm happy I didn't break edge, because it kinda felt like it.
I'm against taking these medicines as recreational use; I'll try to find an alternative that has the same effect on me without the alcohol in it.
P.S.
Excuse me for my immature English.
