First of all, as a politics student I appreciate the content of the show, so maybe the joke is lost on me, but I suppose I can understand the joke that is Canadian politics to most people.

Second of all, the concept of the show isn't to decide if people should be Prime Minister, it is just a show to promote young people to get involved in politics and it offers a $50 000 prize. I personally hate reality shows, but as far as reality shows go I think its a good idea.

And finally, it is aired on CBC, so there are very few Canadians who take the show seriously as nobody actually watches the CBC and the shows they produce and air are always ridiculously corny and generally terrible. CBC news is pretty much the only broadcast worthy television aired by them. The show probably sucks really bad, but its CBC so that is generally expected!
