What if drugs and alcohol never existed? Or what if everyone just stopped using them? Because there were better things to do?
What would that mean for straight edge?
Do you think that in a world were drugs and alcohol were not used that you would be a different sort of person?
Would it just be a bunch of anti promiscuous sex kids?

I know it is impossible for drugs and alcohol to not exist since they do, I just want to know what people think about it.

Well straightedge wouldn't exist as it does and unlikely that it would exist at all.

Of course i would be different, environment plays a huge part in moulding who we are.

Promiscuous sex really isn't an issue as its largely not what straightedge is about, more accurately without drugs to be against it would just be a bunch of kids, possibly hardcore kids, as that would be the remaining element that could bind us initially.

There's always another nauseating pop culture element to reject, drugs or no drugs.

Then we would find something else to protest, I'm sure.

So do you guys think its more about having something to be against than actually being against what you are against. I mean i am very unsure if i would feel the need to be against something else if drugs were not an issue...what kind of things would fill the place of drugs for you guys in the event of them not being in existence?

That was definitely a satirical post. I'm sorry you saw it another way.

The use of exclamation marks or question marks may have helped denote the satire you were attempting, or perhaps more text to illustrate the scorn or ridicule you were casting upon the notion. Otherwise there really is no way for me to differentiate it from the sentiment of the other persons post, you wrote it as pretty much an agreement...so yeah, punctuation or more text might help get your meaning accross in future.

Well I wouldn't mean something like that unless I was completely oblivious to what sxe is supposed to be.

Well you quite easily could mean it theres no way for me to tell and you quite easily could be oblivious to what straightedge is about, its not such an unheard of thing is it?! Many people attach themselves to the idea for very strange reasons that don't make sense and for all i know you could be like that, i mean i can't read your mind and i know very little about you really.

True. Now that I think about it, I answered that right after reading a topic where sXe was associated religiously.
