Hi Everyone!
I'm a sXe for 2-3 months. And I have a question. What does really sXe means? Is it just drawing x's on your hand? I think it should have some special meanings to be an edger... Can anybody explaint it. Thanks a lot.

What other info do you feel you need to know about? If you read the wiki this gives the basis of the lifestyle and it also told you where it began and why it began. What else do you feel you need to know?

yeah, i didn't check that.

I didn't either. I just assumed this might be the case judging from how the messages were worded. You can't trust anything people type in as their personal details in the forum anyway. Apply your best judgment and use your intuition and you should be good =)

Hello and welcome.

To be straightedge to me is to be part of a community. Specifically, straightedge is based in the hardcore/punk scene. For each of our individual reasons, we have decided to abstain from recreational drugs, including alcohol. As with every community, there are people from different backgrounds and belief systems. There is debate as to where to draw the line. It is clear that hard drugs, nicotine and alcohol are omitted from our lives, but there are arguments over caffeine, veg*n diet, and promiscuous sex.

True, there are certain fashions and traditions (marking an X on the hand) that surround the community, but as with time these things have changed. The punk look has altered and behaviors, including dancing, has evolved. I personally cannot remember when the last time I "X'd up" at a show, I do not look punk, nor is my partner drugfree, but I consider myself sxe.

I am so sorry to hear that you are being harassed at school regarding your decision; you are not alone. Unfortunately that will not change because the mainstream population feels threatened by things they do not understand. I can only advise to stay true to your beliefs and choice and stick around the board for more support and advice.

I don't know how old you are, but as a senior in highschool I got a lot of shit my sophomore and junior years of highschool from people going out and partying and all that. I also know that i made it clear I didn't want anything to do with it. I will admit I havea lot of stoner friends, but they are good ones. I have actually had one friend of mine, who smokes every weekend, tell someone to fuck off when they tried to mess with me and get me to party.

It's rough, and there's always someone that will try and mess with you, but it gets easier. At least it's gotten easier for me. Pick some good friends, sXe or not, to help you out and you should be good to go.

I know this is a little different than the answer you were looking for, but I thought I'd post anyway.
