my personally opion is no because

Straight edge says nothing
of being vegan or as of being hardcore...

and i thought that right there was pretty
much all of what staright edge is about.

i wouldnt call Minor Threat as the "mother" of straight edge, but yeah you dont have to be a vegan or a veggie to be straight edge. there have been many vegan and vegetarian people inside the hardcore community but that's not what defines straight edge.

and about hardcore, minor threat didnt really have to say anything about hardcore, they used to call themselves punk or hardcore punks sometimes, even thought their music is hardcore, so the hardcore connection is necessarily in there. so yeah, you have to be hardcore to be straight edge.

i do think that being straight edge does not mean you have to be vegan or vegetarian. i call myself straight edge and have done for a long time but i am not vegetarian.i may be in the future but for now i am not.i can see why people see being vegan or veggie is a definite part of straight edge but if you look at the true roots of the movement, it is not mentioned.
