View Full Version : Cancelled show stories.
ok, let's hear them!
I was still in highschool, wanted to go to Blood For Blood's show, and back home with the last train, because i had school the next day. I got a call from a friend of mine while standing in line at the train station to buy my ticket, that Blood For Blood cancelled the show, their van broke down in Germany. i was pissed, at least i didn't buy the train ticket.
Later it turned out that they just got really really drunk the night before and didn't want to make that long ass drive from germany to hungary. they never toured europe after this incident, but i didn't mind knowing how disrespectful they acted like.
I wasn't there, but a lot of my friends showed up, travelled to Budapest for kill your idols' show, and only got to know they cancelled it due to their van breaking down on spot. This was before cellphones.
similar story.. last year Death Before Dishonor (and born from pain) were going to play a show in my town.. DBD van broke somewhere in Poland (or they got really drunk ;-) ) and they let the promoter know about 1 hour before the show was supposed to start.. i wasn't THAT pissed off as i only paid for local bus ticket, but some guys from another cities where pretty mad about that incident...

Took days off work, got the train to the north of Scotland to see Verse, Justice and Go It Alone. I was going to interview the bands for my zine and everything. We got to the venue and the place was dead, the guy at the venue said they had 30 minutes to show up or he was cancelling the show. After 30 minutes they didn't show and they didn't call him or anything, so we decided just to leave. Turns out they showed up like 1 hour after the show was meant to start and the guy told them too late and they had to leave. I can't remember there reason for being late, I was way to pissed off to care.
Not all was lost, I was sleeping on some cute girls floor and we went bowling and ice skating anyway, plus time off work is time off work so it was all good.
yeah. friends of mine bought their plane tickets to the floorpunch show(s) in england, and they couldn't return them, so they just made a weekend trip in London out of it.

Same Floorpunch shows I said to you probably won't happen and you said "dude, they ARE happening". I told you some shit was in the pipe line regarding them shows and it's why I was hesitant to buy tickets that time you asked and couldn't believe I hadn't bought them yet. I'm smarter than you think!

I have some stories about shows that were cancelled and then back on or last minute:
A few days after Posi Numbers in 2005 Have Heart and Learn were suppose to play in Chicago, and everyone said it was cancelled. I went anyways, and there was a total of like 30 kids there, and it was the best time.
Same year Champion played as last minute show in Iowa City and I went. There were 50 of us there. Again, amazing.
In 2006 (I think) Righteous Jams was playing in this small town. That day we got word it was cancelled, then an hour later a friend called to see where were at. Got there just in time.

About two years ago Ramallah was touring and they were playing in Denver and my best friend and I were going to go with my sister. I was stoked for months. Then I found out a few days before that the show was cancelled. Then the band broke up. One of my favorite bands and I'll never be able to see them. They did half a tour and then cancelled. I hate when bands do that. New Found Glory cancels Denver all the time. Last time they did during the summer me and my friend drove to New Mex to see them play. Best show of my life. Definitely worth it.
