Macbooks rule!!!

My laptop took a giant crap last night, so I thought I might as well get something that will last for awhile. I'm addicted already.

You were overcharged for a lower spec laptop than you could of had.

Why did you choose a Mac?

i'm a linux person, so I would choose a Mac for anything.. but I must confess I'm digging the iPad..

Because I like the operating system on a Mac, I like the look, and I like the features. I like what Mac has to offer me. I also looked at a few other laptops, but this ended up being my choice. I like it a lot.

I'm really thrown off by the iPad. I can't decide if i like it or not. It's an interesting toy, but if I were to get one I would definitely wait for a few generations and a price drop.

yeah, that price's too high for such an device.. but I still like it.. it's not an computer (as netbooks, notebooks, etc.), more an oversized PDA.. I don't expect Python scripting on that device. But i can see the potential - sitting on a back porch and realizing you need to write your mom about the cake she sent you.. no problem.. no quirky phone emailing... you want to watch a movie? listen to a music? read a book? comfortably? just do it (tm)..
personally, i'm still searching for an phone with hw keyboard i could turn into an Debian box.. but I know my gf would love the iPad .. many people who know me would just freeze with their mouths wide open - but I see the lack of multitasking as a PRO, not a con.. i guess i've fixed too many bloated pcs :-)

@D1988: yeah, that's funny :-) .. but i really only miss E-ink.. usb, card slot and dozen of other features can be attached...

If I want to read a book, it'll be one made of paper. But that's just my opinion.

yeah, i would rather read (and smell!) any book that's still in stock from paper.. for books that interest me, that's unfortunately usually not the case... any many programming books aren't even printed at all...

yeah, but you have to admit that new generations have easier access to this kind of technology.

i like reading books on paper, but with the taxation that books and magazines have over here they end up being way to expensive, buying books that are not printed in a device that lets me read them in a pretty decent size, sounds like a good deal to me.

I love the smell and feel of a book, and I read a lot. That being said, I'm really interested in getting a Kindle, but I would feel like I'm cheating the print industry.

yes, but see how many publications are out there now and how many were there yesterday.

at least down here newspapers are printing less because their contents are online now, comicbooks are going the same way... even fanzines are less than what there used to be, because it's way cheaper to do stuff online.

even regular magazines. digital distribution is going to kill the publishing industry completely just like it did music in physical forms.

I love reading ebooks on my iphone. The books i read are to heavy to carry around and i love that i can carry all the books i want around in my pocket, made me very happy with my apple product. Regular books take up so much space at my home as does music and dvd's. I completely understand the argument for the real thing, and appreciating it in its form but i really do enjoy that i can read anywhere with so little fuss. I have a blue ray player but i just rent or buy hi def films instead, i enjoy having a HDD full of music...most my CD's are now in the loft...i am looking to the clouds people.

maybe not.. maybe it will just slim down.. as for example in the case of film/digital photography..

Can be attached.... at even more cost to an already ridiculous over priced Apple product.

It's even more pointless than the Macbook Air, which is also crazy over priced.

The majority of Apple products are just a gimmick..... And majorly over priced.

false - Macbook Air is way lamer than iPad, which at least don't pretend to be useful as main computer

They should mention the price of both devices.
