i don't mean to insult anyone with this post--- but in reviewing blogs and discussing sxe with ex-exers, it almost seems as if they may have captured the true essence of what makaye himself was aiming to communicate- think for yourself. he wrote his songs as personal opinions to what he felt, and wasn't trying to start a movement, rather, he was trying to relay a message of individualism. even the "don't drink, don't smoke, don't fuck" lyrics aren't really what he means- as in, complete abstinence. in an interview, he even states that he's not anti-sex- he's anti-guys using sex and a method of proving themselves.
what do you all think?

that ian mackaye's opinion on things don't influence how I live my life.

Ian didn't start a movement.. people started a movement... and they started it because they wanted, not because what exactly Ian sang and not because it was him who sang it.. but simply because the message made sense to them... and if still makes sense to new people, the movement will live..
