Someone asked me this weekend what my last omnivore meal was before going veg. I couldn't recall. Probably something with chicken...

What about you all? Did you have something specific you ate?

Don't Remember the last vegetarian meal, but the last meal with meat was Bacon Eggs and Pancakes. I loved Bacon, favorite food, i was veg for a week and my mom made breakfast Sunday morning. I ate me some bacon, and haven't been back since. I do wish i could get some really good fake bacon though. Luckily i don't have cravings still!

Have you tried Lightlife's Smart Bacon? Hubby and I like it for BLTs.

same thing!

But I decided to become vegan overnight, so I was just in the mood to think of what I was gonna eat, not what I had just eaten.

I think it's much harder!
When I read about all the great stuffs you guys have access too, I envy you terribly...
We have no vegan pizza (ok, I make my own, and they kikck ass, but still!), we have no vegan cheese (I manage to find some vegan parmesan cheese on the internet, sent from Germany, but that's it), I managed to find only one vegan strawberry ice cream which is just not good, there is hardly no vegan pastries (I made some croissants by myself... it just takes en ENTIRE day to make...), we don't have anything :(
the worst part is, I'm coming to the US in January, but since I'll be in college there, I will have to eat there (hoping to find vegan stuffs!) and I'll have no money to buy everything's from vegan stores. My only hope is that we may find more and more vegan stuffs in France!

And the culture of meat eating is much different... for example, my parents have friends who raise cattle and stuffs, and I know of plenty people who have chikens and stuffs... but the thing is they're all free range, they hardly suffer (except when butchered...) and people are unable to see what's wrong with eating animals. They think all the stuffs they eat come from green meadows, happily raised up outside. And they think that vegan people are missing plenty of essential stuffs, they don't even know that vegetable protein are as good as (well, better, for that matter) meat protein, they don't know that calcium can be found elsewhere than in moo milk... and they don't have a clue on how much they poison themselves by drinking so much milk. Babies are forced to drink moo milk from birth (well, for non-nursing mothers) until old age, because even the gvt makes propaganda about how you should eat at least 3 portions of stuffs with milk per day!
And I don't have any real-life vegan friend.
The world's fucked up.

the food culture as a whole in france vs most of the USA is very different. It's hard to even try and compare them for the most part. so much of the french identity is around either the creation or consumption of food and most of that food is either meat, fish or dairy. I can't really imagine what a vegan croissant would be like though.

Well, you just put vegan margarine instead of butter, and you don't put eggs on it (which is j=used just to change the color). I've never tasted anything that good! You have to slave over it, but it's definitely the best thing I've ever made!

Three servings of dairy a day! Holy shit! I live in wisconsin, but our government only says you need two a day haha.

Sucks about it being hard in France, and i hate strawberry ice cream, so thats a downer too. i'm sure the usa will be way easier than, i though they used alot of cheeses and meats in france. Yea, i live in madison wi, alot of that "happy meat" bullshit. OR "happy cheese" cause animals really love being enslaved so we can steal their milk or flesh..... I've actually been having a little debate with a friend of mine who sincerely believes killing plants is as horrible as killing animals (instead of going fruitarian, she just eats both....) fuckin hippies... haha

my family are huge hunters, and my old house where i grew up is flanked by a huge dairy cow farm, probably 500 plus. My region of wisconsin is also like the highest Mink Farm (fur) population in the country. I've shaken hands with the bastard who owns a mink farm with a couple thousand mink in tiny little cages. Even been on his property. My dad uses the mink shit for compost he sells in his landscaping business...

Luckily the vegan options are much easier. I have a housemate who went vegan in china, he said its pretty fuckin hard there too, people ask why and he says animal rights and then they ask what's that?

Where in the usa are you going to school?

I'll be in Dickinson College, in the very very small town of Carlisle, PA. There's a brand new vean counter in one of the dining places, I heard, so even if there's no vegan store or anything, I should be able to survive as a vegan there!

and it really blows that you live next to these kind of people, the worst part is they don't even know what's wrong with killing animals... fur farms seem just unbelieable to me.
My parents buy most of their meat from a friend/neighbor (well, he lives in the same village we do) who raises cattle, get them killed, cut, and bring the morcels back to us. And people can't stop saying "wow, this is really good meat!", they value it so bad nearly no one can understand the choice of not eating meat.

oh cool. never heard of it but the vegan counter should be nice, and you can always drive to philly or pittsburg.

yea, alot of people don't really think about alot of shit. but i read this thing about not worrying about the masses. Just convince one person to be vegan, someone for life, and then we'll be in good ship. same thing next year and we'll keep doubling you know. easy
