Edge Interview

Hi guys,

I am a University student here in London, UK. I am currently writing my thesis on Straight Edge. As one of the chapters I need to look at some of the reasons as to why people decide to become edge, and also I think it would be beneficial for me to have some quotes from some of you guys on certain areas of Straight Edge as a subculture and a lifestyle in general.
I am not Edge, I have a few friends who are, but I have found it difficult to find a lot of people who are Edge here in England.

So if you are interested in helping me out with this, there are two ways we can go about it, 1st would be to fire off questions on here (I don't mind doing that, but I don't want to annoy anyone with constant posts with questions) or the 2nd way would be for anyone who is interested to reply to this thread and then to provide an email address for further contact. You can choose to remain anonymous and if you are not comfortable with any of the questions you can choose to not answer the questions that you are not comfortable with.

Anyone who is willing to take part would be really helping me out, and as this is a project that (if it goes well) may end up being published, any contributor will be thanked whole heartedly in the publication.

hey, i'm pretty sure a bunch of us would gladly help you, i remember last time a kid came with such questions we just answered them on the thread. id say go ahead and post the questions here, if somebody wants to make em private they'll private message you with the answers or whatever.

Here are some of my questions, I need to get a grasp on what sort of people are edge (background wise) so I guess I should start with some of those, and of course if anyone doesn't feel comfortable with answering some of the questions don't answer them, but by all means you can pick and choose which ones you are comfortable with.

1. What made you decide to become Straight Edge?
2. How old were you when you became Edge?
3. What country/state are you from?
4. Favourite band/s?
5. Do you have tattoos? If so are they Edge related (If so why?)?
6. Do you go to concerts regularly? If so are they Hardcore, Punk or Metal shows?
7. How do you feel about people who are not Edge?
8. Are your friends Edge? Or do you have to go to shows to find other like minded people?

Don't want to over do it on the questions for now, so these are there to get on with if you fancy helping me out with this!
