x-mas, duh.

Oh, silly me, I didn't notice.

I'll just have an awesome time with my family, not sure what we're having for dinner, we don't do the whole turkey thing. Maybe some baby cow.

I know what my mom is going to make!

Vol au vent with croquettes (without those little cups)

Pieces of chicken, little meatballs and mushrooms in a special sauce. It must be my favorite dish, or one of my favs. I had it for my birthday also with mayonnaise. Good times.

we're here in the uk this year. it's going to be a hard year since this is first one without viv's dad. so we're just going to try and make the most of it and not be completely depressed.

I do however had a pretty bad chest cold right now so I'm hoping by tomorrow I start feeling better.

We couldn't afford to go to Indiana (my family) and we're planning on going to California (his) next week, so we stayed home in our freezing house amongst the boxes--we're moving. We woke up, exchanged presents, Hubby went back to bed, I packed some more, called the family, and made pancakes. We ate and then went over to our friend's house to play board games and eat way too many sweets.

I got these:http://www.alternativeoutfitters.com/mingo-black-perforated-vegan-mary-jane-pumps.aspx
He got this: http://www.uncommongoods.com/product/geek-wrist-watch

He loves it, so I would say it's decent. I really like the strap because it has holes like a leather strap, but it's all metal.

xmas was really hard this year food wise. It seems like everything in england this year had alcohol in it. Even more so than normal. And of course my mother in law had to make us a feel like a major inconvenience to either leave out the booze or buy the same thing without booze. It makes me really thankful for x-mas in america where alcohol plays a much lesser role.

What sort of things were you having problems with? I can imagine a few problem deserts but it doesnt seem particularly hard to avoid alcohol for food in general. Although i agree there is a large focus on it at christmas time which sucks.

christmas pudding and christmas cake. They also bought a bunch of stuff that was ready made like sprouts that had it. There was also a duck with port stuffing.

There's also the whole gift chocolate. a bunch of the ones people gave us had booze in it. It's not the end of the world but it's kind of annoying.

That is pretty annoying...sprouts with alcohol? Thats not crucial at all and sounds rancid!

exactly. the best part of it was "well it's only a little bit" or "it probably cooked off". it does make us a kind of want to become vegan for trips just to demonstrate or make it so people can't have any alcohol when they come and visit us.

I see flaws with the vegan plan...i know how abysmal some peoples interpretations of a vegan diet can be! You may still get served sprouts with alcohol but just nothing else. The second plan sounds kinda fun though.
