And it's actually related to what I went to school for! I am going to be doing institutional research at a College here in Ontario. I am very excited.

Ah, cool dude! It must be awesome to do a job you studied for. And as it is research, it'll be interesting too! (or am I wrong?)

Thanks! The department I am working in basically evaluates every program that the school offers. They go through and analyse student evaluations of the programs, looks at how successful students are when they graduate from the program, and basically compares the programs to similar courses offered at different colleges in the area. It is basically public opinion research to determine how successful each course is and whether or not changes need to be made to make them better for their students. It probably sounds boring, but public opinion research is what I did in school, so I am pretty excited about it, haha.

It does sound like a boring job, but if it's what you're into, that's awesome.

A fixer...I like that!

Thanks! Ideally I want to get into public affairs research. Work for a company like Ipsos Reid or Gallup and do this kind of work in a political setting. But I am pretty excited about at least getting my foot in the door and getting some professional experience in the industry.
high five!
Thanks!

Wow that's awesome! It's always great to hear someone actually getting a job in the field they studied for. Also a great way to get your foot in to door for moving into areas closer to what you had hoped to land in. really happy for you!

Thanks, Viv!
After a couple of days it seems like a lot of work, and a lot of information to take in. But it feels pretty rewarding to be working a job where what I do matters, so I am enjoying it. And I get business cards! It's the little things in life that excite me...

Good for you!
Sounds like you're going to improve lives (at least some aspects of it) for many people in your country! That's exciting, if you ask me! I mean, it's WAY better than doing something that doesn't contribute any value to your community (think foreign exchange or stock exchange or any type of speculations basically).
Way to go!
