It's bloody hot today (at least it is here) so of course today is the 1 day that has to be spent lugging heavy bolts of fabric around the house. Looks like I'll actually be turning to iced tea over regular hot tea today.
How are you guys doing with it all?

It is days like today I am glad I work in an air conditioned office. Although I have to wear a shirt and tie to work every day, and I have tattoos all over my arms so I have to wear long sleeves and I can't roll them up, which is unfortunate when it is 33 degrees.

Yeah, I could see that coming as well. I guess it gets very predictable with passing years.
Anyway, Viv to answer your question, I can endure heat quite well, it doesn't bother me all that much. Cold seems to have capability to hit me way more harder than heat. So, I spend most of the days in an office with air conditioning, and I have to actually wear a sweatshirt to avoid freezing to death (no joking).
Air conditioning is shit, though. We need to start building homes and offices with principles that harness physics and learn to cool our rooms in a somewhat more natural way: thermal mass + convection = it's where it's at.

What is really laughable is your definition of "a place that doesn't get and stay hot" which, if translated to comparison of raw climate data between my city and Washington, D.C. means roughly +3C/+4C degrees difference for summer months.

31 celsius (88.5 f) is the average high in july. most days are in the 90s for the last few years. the difference between 31 and 35 c is a shitload, just like the difference between 31 and 27 is. one is comfortable, one is hot. Sorry you live in a place that's nicer than where I live in the summer?

When it's in the 30s it's not the matter of comfortable and hot, it's the matter of hot and hotter. And at that, hotter by 3-4 degrees doesn't make such a dramatic difference as you try to make it sound to be. You're welcome to come over in July and experience the "comfortable, warm weather" yourself.
Besides, I know at least 3 guys that are from where I live and that had spent a number of summers in VA, over the course of 3-4 years, living only half an hour drive (30km) away from Washington, D.C., frequenting it regularly, and they all confirm the climate is essentially the same in that area.

I was training for a run recently and was totally comfortable with things and the last of my training runs were around the 18-19 degree mark, when i came to do the actual run it was 23 and the difference destroyed me, it was the hardest run i had ever done as a result.

Those aren't forecasts, those are recorded historical temperatures. Now, what's more likely, you making shit up or a global conspiracy against you? Just so you know, temperatures aren't taken in the sun anywhere, they're always taken in the shade since they're measuring air temperature.

Well the effects were significant, and this was the consensus of the marathon on a whole as well as many individuals. The sudden spike in temperature was significant enough to effect many runners and to significant enough to make mention of it in emails and news letters following the event, saying the run was significantly harder than previous years as a result of the increased heat. People tend to choose this particular marathon as its usually cool and takes place where temperatures do stay lower. The outcome to me certainly seems significant.

Well, I know that, that's why I first mentioned temperature in the shadow and then in direct sunlight (because I walk 10km a day across the town in direct sunlight, which amounts to 40c+ sometimes or something close to 40c -- which might give you an idea about why I think I can cope with heat better than cold). And I'm not saying there's a conspiracy or something, all I'm saying is that the temperatures I, my relatives and my friends are actually seeing on their thermometers is often times higher than anything you can see on the Internet.
For one, my mom recalled that in the beginning of June she happened to have a thermometer with her at the beach. She wanted to measure sea water temperature, and she reported air temperature to be as high as 36c on that day, yes, in the shadow of a beach umbrella. At that time we had have a streak of hot days spanning roughly 2-3 weeks. As far as I'm concerned, that's pretty hot, and the best is that not even accuweather confirms that.
Obviously, I can't prove it, there's no factual evidence of any kind. You don't trust my words? End of discussion.

Yes i know, you think the clear significancies i mentioned are not significant. I am fine with with adding the information for others to observe and process even if it has no bearing on your thought process. As mentioned many people do find it significant so its plausable that many reading this would too follow that line of thinking. Theres no need for you to say you have nothing to add...not adding anything would signify that.

It's a shame you have nothing to add as it would have been nice to see you give explicit reasoning why the significant ramifications of a small temperature increase are absolutely not significant.
But it does make a change for you wanting to be helpful, so thank you for explicitly letting me know you have nothing to add.

most likely through digital weather stations placed around the city. Which is why they're probably more reliable than your non calibrated analog one.

what you could do is take your thermometer to the local weather station and adjust it so it reads the same, refix the thermometer to the scale so it is now in sync with the weather station and then see how well it keeps up with it, it could be interesting to see just how much accuracy it can keep compared to apparatus that is continually serviced and tested. Or maybe its just me that would find that interesting.

Well you have observed discrepencies, in order to be sure the discrepencies are with the actual temperature and not the aparatus it would be good to entertain this posibility as its something you could then confirm or rule out with a simple process. Its also very easy for the type of thermometer in your pictures to be erronous so its definitely a good place to start...its not that i think it is maladjusted, its that i would look to be sure it isn't.

We finally get a hot day on Wednesday, 24°C and no rain. Then some days with rain again probably and on Sunday again no rain and 21°C and it should continue.. How is it gonna be in the UK?
Overcast and cloudy with rain showers with a small possibility of brightening up toward the end of the week with an estimated high of 19°c. Going into next week on a 10 day forecast it looks like it could stay sunnier but i wouldn't trust that just yet...it would be nice though as i have some time off work next week.

I can't even imagine a world where 24 is hot.

Because of the weather?

35 degrees today, 43 when taking humidity into account. We haven't had a day under 30 in almost a week.

My mistake, it should be "warm".

Yes. You don't have to explain in detail how I'm wrong. In fact, you don't have to do it at all. Save your energy.

I have no reason to doubt it, but I do have reason to doubt you. Do you enjoy repeating yourself?

Is this because you already know you or wrong, are you trying to be wrong? Could you explain why you are wrong?

Holy crap this argument is getting ridiculous. Who the heck cares how hot or not hot it is in Simferpol Ukraine?

There's a sort of fringe benefit to this, though, the board looks and feels more alive!
And it's not about weather in Simferopol per se, it's about a ridiculous statement xsecx made saying how it's not really hot here so my
statement about how I can take heat better than cold is laughable.
We're just arguing to establish whether it's hot enough (which I honestly believe it is!) in Simferopol, not just whether it's hot in this
part of the world, or not, just for the sake of knowing it/arguing.

Yes, I'm intentionally and consciously trying my best to be wrong. Makes perfect sense!

Well you were the one that suggested you were wrong, and intentionally being wrong does fit in with the trolling
