Yes, I laugh at this though
And where you can’t understand, you find faith.
Really? Why can't we just say "I don't know, but I'll try to figure it out" and refrain from faith?

because that statement was about if they proved there was no higgs boson. What would happen if the building blocks that they thought of all along weren't true. I don't see what's funny about that statement at all.

Thanks Cap!
I'm laughing actually at the idea of substituting lack of knowledge with faith, most commonly practiced act among religious types, you know...

only if you take the last part of the sentence out of context and not include the first part.

I don't see how that changes anything?

"If scientists had proved it didn’t exist, we’d have to acknowledge that we don’t truly understand what makes the universe tick. And where you can’t understand, you find faith."
what's funny about that? I don't see how that statement in context was about anyone saying, we'd abandon all hope of understanding and just fall back on faith.

Then what kind of faith a scientist could possibly have? By definition faith is a continuous act of accepting something to be true without requiring any sort of evidence. A true scientist embraces scientific method, not faith. That was kind of a nonsensical statement, hence me laughing at it.

I don't even understand what you're trying to say. That statement was a throw away, since it didn't happen, it wasn't expounded on. If the fundamentals of what you built your career turn out to be wrong, it would throw normal people for a loop. You, not so much because you're insane, but normal people it would.
